Preserve Montana's heritage while giving back to The Bob.
The Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation is honored to partner with American Prairie for this chance to harvest a bison from their stunning Sun Prairie reserve near Malta, Montana. With public harvests limited to roughly 25 per year, this is a rare opportunity to play an active role in maintaining the health and sustainability of this keystone species that American Prairie is working to restore to the landscape.
Each raffle ticket purchase will support the Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation's work to preserve access and restore habitat in the 1.6-million-acre Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex in NW Montana. By purchasing raffle tickets, you help us coordinate and lead more than 50 trail projects every summer with 300+ volunteers; provide career pathways and preserve traditional skills through internships and apprenticeships; and share Wilderness education and training with hundreds of people of all ages. Tickets are $100 each, and will be limited to 300 total sold. The winner will be drawn at The BobFest on October 10th, 2025.

About the Harvest
Because bison are classified as livestock in Montana and confined to large fenced areas on American Prairie lands, public opportunities are referred to as harvests rather than hunts. However, the bison are managed to be wild and the experience will be similar to hunting public trust species like elk, deer and pronghorn.
All bison harvests are restricted to one mature bull bison. Harvest success is not guaranteed.
Harvest recipients are responsible for safely killing, field dressing and packing out the harvested bison.
The harvest recipient will have a three-day window to harvest their animal, during which time they are the sole bison hunter on the Sun Prairie property. Winner will contact American Prairie to coordinate harvest dates.
The winner is responsible for coordinating their own travel and lodging during the harvest window.
Raffle tickets will be limited to 300, and the prize package includes:
Permit to harvest one mature bull bison during the 2025/26 season (3-day window between December 2025-February 2026);
An experienced guide, Roy Jacobs of Choteau, MT, to assist your hunt and field dressing (if desired). Roy has spent decades as a hunting guide across the country, including time as a bear guide in Alaska;
European mount of the skull (Opportunity to upgrade to a shoulder mount for additional cost);
Hair-on tanned hide, prepared and shipped for processing for you.
The harvest takes place on American Prairie’s 27,000-acre Sun Prairie Unit where the herd numbers over 400. The bison can be found across the unit in habitats ranging from rolling sagebrush hills, willowed creek bottoms to rough Missouri Breaks type terrain.
