Project Description
We’re joining forces with Here Montana for our Wilderness 101 Weekend Campout! If you’ve been wanting to learn or get more familiar with camping and backpacking, this is a great hands-on opportunity to get out there within a supportive community. This trip will introduce the basics for recreating in Wilderness, Leave No Trace and backcountry camping, and will also help you understand how trails are maintained in designated Wilderness.
The first (optional) night will have a lesson on setting up a front-country campsite and how to stay safe in bear country. The second day we will be backpacking into the Scapegoat Wilderness and putting what we’ve learned to the test in the backcountry. Join us Friday afternoon or early Saturday morning for the campout through Sunday afternoon. Full itinerary TBA!
Please note: This is a learning opportunity for people of color and/or intersecting identities. Reach out to us if you have any questions about this trip or if you’d like more information before signing up: erynn@bmwf.org and info@heremt.org
