Project Description

The Summit trailhead just east of Marias pass may seem insignificant as you drive by at 70 mph along Hyw 2, but if you slow down and stay a while, you will see its quietly bustling with activity. CDT through hikers reach this trailhead as they leave behind the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex and cross the street into Glacier National Park. Backpackers start here to explore the Badger Two Medicine area.  Packers and hunters who spend the fall tracking that big bull through some of the wildest country use Summit trailhead as there launching point.

The Summit trailhead accesses some of the wildest country in the Crown of the continent. Perched high along the Continental divide, this area experiences some extreme weather and harsh conditions.

Together with the  Montana Backcountry Hunters and Anglers we have adopted the summit trailhead through a partnership with the Montana Noxious Weed Education Campaign.  Through this partnership we have pledged to come together one day each year to combat noxious weeds, preform general maintenance and educate users to the threat of weeds in the area.

Join us for our second annual work project! We will be celebrating this partnership with a morning of pulling knapweed and some general maintenance to the trailhead. After the weed pull, volunteers are invited to join us for a picnic lunch provided by BMWF

BMWF & BHA will provide, tools and group gear. For a packing list and other helpful information:
