Project Description

Come join the BMWF as we participate in the Flathead National Forest, September Trails Initiative. Help make a few trails close to home a little better—and meet some of the partners and pros who work year round to keep the magic of trails alive in the Flathead Valley.

Few activities on National Forests are more rewarding than helping to maintain trails: get outside, get a workout, feel the joy of working alongside some new friends, and, perhaps most importantly, immediately see how your efforts improve trails that so many enjoy.

The work party starts at 9 at the Ranger Station and ends at about 3:30pm rain or shine. Be sure to bring a long sleeve shirt, long pants, sturdy boots, pair of work gloves, lunch, plenty of water and a winning attitude. Expect a physically strenuous day and a hike up to 3 miles one-way.

After sorting tools and talking safety you will hike to the work site.  Clearing down trees will be the primary focus! Reports of over 30 trees down! Crosscuts and hand saws will be the tools of choice.

BMWF will provide all  tools and group gear. You need to provide a lunch. For a packing list and other helpful information click on the button below.

Volunteers will meet at the Hungry Horse Ranger Station and caravan to the trailhead.
