Project Description

In partnership with Dr. Sara Boilen of Sweetgrass Psychological Services, Girls in The Bob brings teenage girls (ages 13-18) on a volunteer adventure in the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex for a 5 days to backpack and work on wilderness stewardship projects. Together with eight other Girls, you'll enter the Bob Marshall Wilderness for a five day adventure complete with hard work, new friends, camp cookin', and probably some mules!
This is a trail work trip designed for teenage girls who are interested in digging in the dirt and getting to know themselves a little better. We will focus on finding our
strength, building our grit, and having a really good time.

Come sleep under the stars, build some trail that people will use for years to come, and sit around the campfire eating s'mores after a hard day's work.

The group will meet at the Swift Dam trailhead on Friday morning to sort gear and meet the BMWF crew leader and packer. After shouldering your pack, you will hike just under 6 miles to set up base camp along the creek. During the next 3 days volunteers will be working on trail #105 clearing down trees and reestablishing the trail bed (tread).  Pulaskis, shovels and hand saws will be the tools of choice. After work relax by the creek or go explore. Tuesday the group will pack up and hike back out to the trailhead and civilization.

BMWF will provide all food, tools and group gear. For a packing list and other helpful information be sure to click the link below.

Volunteers will meet at the Dupuyer Cache (store) and caravan in personal rigs to the Swift Dam trailhead.
