Project Description

Friends and Family of Don Scharfe and Rocky Mountain Outfitters, join us for 5 days in the rugged Scapegoat Wilderness! We need your help giving some Wilderness trails some love. The team will be tackling a tread repair project on #441 located along Bighorn Creek, and leading to the Continental Divide Trail.  Volunteers will meet the Crew Leader Thursday morning at the Lincoln Ranger Station and caravan the 1/2 hour drive to the trailhead.  After sorting gear and supplies for the packer and shouldering your backpack, you will hike the 9 miles into camp. Friday-Sunday volunteers will be putting some sweat equity back into the trail.  Pulaskis, shovels and hand saws will be the tools of choice.  After work relax at camp or chase Don as he hikes up some mountainside to check out the views*.  Monday the group will pack up and hike back out to the trailhead and civilization.

BMWF will provide all food, tools and group gear. For a packing list and other helpful information click on the button below.

*If you do follow Don to some scenic vista, please be sure to remind him to sit down, take a few deep breaths and enjoy the view!
